Our consultants, led by managing partner Simon Penson, all have significant exit stories to tell. Our bar is extremely high and every one of our partners have to have exited at least once and have compelling real world stories to tell of building and leading large, scaled agencies for a decade or more through testing periods of growth and contraction. ‘Warts and all experience’ is important to us as it is never, ever plain sailing. The last agency built by our founder sold for in excess of £35m.

The simple answer is ‘all of them’. And this is for good reason. We believe that a broad set of experiences across all niches and channels helps everyone as we can cross pollenate ideas that would ordinarily stay siloed. That doesn’t mean we EVER share P&C info. That NEVER happens, but we can absolutely generically share learning with our portfolio for the benefit of all.

We also work with investors in the private equity and VC spaces to help them scale their agency portfolio companies faster and with fewer wrong turns.; even helping them buy bolt ons or find ‘platform’ businesses to invest in.

We do not have a ‘trademarked’ approach but our experience allows us to quickly get to the core of the mission quickly, on the consulting side designing prioritised strategic plans that are focused on measurable and focused deliverables to create as much enterprise value as possible. We do this across four key areas; Revenue, Operations, People and Communication to ensure that the back office and sales and marketing engines are scaled in unison, preventing future issues with sustainability and to maximise EV.

Scaled is a ‘mission-focused’ business. It was borne out of the personal learnings of exiting a significant B2B agency business and the realisation that money doesn’t solve everything. We found our collective purpose in wanting to help others build and make that journey just a little less painful than our own. Every Scaler that joins must share this belief if they are to make it through our intensive interview process. It has to MATTER because when it does we deliver.
