Our consultants, led by managing partner Simon Penson, all have significant exit stories to tell with Simon himself having exited two different digital businesses over the last 15 years. The first was one of the first affiliate content groups and the second a 280 person agency in a deal worth north of £35m.

Alongside that Simon also helped to build one of the Uk’s foremost VC Funds and has invested in and supported more than 100 B2B SaaS and tech-enabled service businesses and now he works as an advisor, consultant and NxD for several B2B businesses. He also supports several PE houses.

The answer is simple – B2B! But to be even more specific we have the most experience across the agency and consultancy ecosystems as well as tech-enabled service organisations and B2B Software.

Choosing an NxD, whether that is as a chair or NED, is never easy and it shouldn’t be a fast process either. Adding the RIGHT person to your board to support with specific experience as well as ‘fit’ is crucial as you expand. And we understand this. It’s why we take time to get to know you and the business and ensure there is that fit. And we work either directly with businesses looking to scale to an exit or investment ahead of that event, or with PE as part of the process. Ideally however you build the board ahead of such events.

Costs vary depending on the stage of the business, amount of time commitment needed for the role and whether or not there is an investment as part of the process (yes we often invest coming in). We follow normal industry structuring for such roles and they usually include a mix of fee, acquired shareholding and sweat equity.
